Scope

Success@K is a binary per-query metric often averaged across queries. It is commonly called Hit@K or Hits@K in recommendation, RAG, and retrieval evaluation settings.

  • Success@K is not Precision@K. Success@K is binary per query; Precision@K measures the fraction of top-K results that are relevant.
  • Success@K is not Recall@K. Success@K asks whether at least one relevant item appears in the top K; Recall@K measures how much of the relevant set appears in the top K.
