Scope
TRECVID began as a TREC video track and became an independent annual evaluation campaign. It has supported tasks such as video search, shot-boundary detection, concept or feature extraction, instance search, event detection, video summarization, and video-to-text description.
Not equivalent to
- TRECVID is not Multimodal Retrieval. TRECVID is an evaluation campaign for video analysis and retrieval; multimodal retrieval is a broader retrieval task family.
- TRECVID is not Test Collection. TRECVID is an evaluation campaign; a test collection is an evaluation resource used by a specific track or task.
- TRECVID is not TREC. TRECVID originated from the TREC video track but is a distinct video-retrieval evaluation campaign.
