Scope

INEX focused on structured-document and focused retrieval, including evaluation of systems that retrieve document elements or passages rather than only whole documents. Since 2012, INEX has been run as part of CLEF.

Not equivalent to

  • INEX is not CLEF. INEX is a structured-document retrieval evaluation initiative that later ran within CLEF; CLEF is the broader evaluation forum.
  • INEX is not Document Retrieval. INEX is an evaluation initiative; document retrieval is a retrieval task evaluated by some INEX-style resources.
  • INEX is not Test Collection. INEX is an evaluation program; its test collections are evaluation resources used by INEX tasks.
